Episode Overview
Feeling down after noticing that Ned Flanders is thriving, Homer turns to constant prayer for help. At the same time, the Simpsons find their plumbing has been blocked by tree roots, making their home unlivable. Desperate for a fix, Homer prays for a way out. After injuring himself at church, he decides to sue Reverend Lovejoy and ends up with the church's deed. Hosting a large housewarming party, he and the guests indulge in all sorts of debauchery. However, when the rain starts pouring and the town floods, everyone seeks refuge on the church roof. As the waters rise, Homer prays once more, but it’s Reverend Lovejoy in a helicopter who leads the townsfolk in a prayer for forgiveness, prompting the rain to cease.
