Episode Overview

While fulfilling his community service requirements, Homer strikes up a friendship with his supervisor, Chief Wiggum, after sharing one of his sandwiches. Grateful for the gesture, Wiggum assigns the other offenders difficult chores but invites Homer to sit with him at the picnic table. Their bond deepens, but when Wiggum gets hurt during a failed bank heist, Homer fails to step up when the Chief needs him. At the same time, Bart becomes hooked on Battle Ball, a Japanese game involving plastic balls and magnetic cards, prompting his family and teachers to intervene and help him break free from the obsession.
