Jimmy Lai, a billionaire media mogul and self-described rebel, is the owner of Apple Daily, the last opposition newspaper in Hong Kong. A vocal critic of Beijing, he finds himself increasingly at risk as China intensifies its control over the city. In August, he was detained under the harsh new national security law. Undeterred by the threat of imprisonment, Lai remains resolute in his stance. The BBC’s Danny Vincent gains unprecedented access to Lai, who now faces the possibility of life in prison due to charges related to the new legislation in Hong Kong.
