Amid the Covid pandemic, the Amazon rainforest faces unprecedented threats, with deforestation reaching its highest levels in over ten years. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro advocates for opening the forest to development, while loggers increasingly target environmental police. Our World has acquired a recording of the Environment Minister discussing exploiting the pandemic as an opportunity to “change all the rules” governing the Amazon. Justin Rowlatt from Our World embarks on a journey to discover how a tribe he visited ten years prior is coping with this ongoing crisis.
