Episode Overview
Myanmar is currently engulfed in a civil war. What began in February 2021 as widespread protests against a military coup has escalated into a nationwide armed resistance. The junta faces challenges from civilian militias known as the People's Defence Forces, who are determined to bring back democracy. The BBC has obtained rare access to the training camps in the jungle where young activists are transformed into soldiers. We follow a single mother and a student who have given up everything to join the struggle. Confronted by a ruthless military willing to employ extreme measures to maintain control, can they succeed in restoring democracy as the death toll rises and the world turns a blind eye?
