Episode Overview
The teams depart from their Pit Stop, located at the active volcano Mirador Cotopaxi. They receive a clue directing them to journey 7,400 miles to Santiago, Chile, followed by a 17-mile taxi ride to Codelco’s headquarters. Here, they face a Roadblock that ultimately proves insignificant as they all board the same flight to Chuquicamata in Calama, Chile, covering 230 miles. Upon arrival, the teams don their safety gear and decide between two mining-related tasks in a Detour. They navigate the rugged Valley of the Moon in marked vehicles before reaching the Pit Stop at the Valley of the Dead. One team makes a critical error by misinterpreting a clue and ignoring posted speed limit signs, which leads to their elimination from the race.
