The Amazing Race (2001)

Episode Overview

The eight All-Stars teams depart from Playa Petrohue and receive their next clue, which directs them to fly 800 miles to Punta Arenas, Chile, followed by a taxi ride of fifteen miles to the site of Lord Lansdale's shipwreck. They arrive on two different flights, leading to a Detour where oversight allows teams on the later flight to catch up. One team nearly falls apart during the Detour but manages to regroup by switching to a different task. Meanwhile, a previously strong team starts to lag behind. After taking two charter flights spaced three hours apart, they face a Roadblock where one member from each team must sort through a pile of mail. As a reward, each team receives a message from a former team, with reactions ranging from positive to negative. One team deceives another to gain an edge but ultimately cannot recover from their earlier setback and is eliminated from the competition.
