The Amazing Race (2001)

Episode Overview

The latest season of The Amazing Race kicks off in Denver, Colorado, where teams receive a clue that leads them to book one of three flights to São Paulo, Brazil. One team makes a critical error by booking their flight over the phone, resulting in a delayed arrival. Upon reaching Brazil, they find a clue instructing them to take a taxi to the Viaduto Santa Efigenia bridge, three miles away. Here, they face a Detour option: either Rotor Head, which involves a helicopter ride to one of three buildings, or Motor Head, where they must assemble a motorcycle from scratch. While most teams choose Rotor Head, a few initially select Motor Head before switching. The teams then take part in a Brazilian religious ceremony that ends with candle-lighting, before heading 2½ miles to the Pit Stop at Estadio de Pacaembu. Unfortunately, two teams fall significantly behind, and one is ultimately eliminated.
