Episode Overview
Northumbria Police apprehend a man named Frank Bentley, who has a trunk full of drugs and a firearm, following a high-speed pursuit through Newcastle. However, 'Bentley' is actually DCI Frank Burnside, and his 'lawyer,' Liz McAuley, is DS Liz Rawton, both deep undercover to expose corrupt CID officers in the area. Their main suspect is DCI Bonnet, who appears to be working with local criminal Saul Anderson. Despite facing threats from Anderson and almost being exposed when Rawton encounters her cousin Cheryl at a bar, Burnside gains Bonnet's confidence. When they meet at an exclusive club, both are startled by a police raid, yet they manage to slip away unnoticed.
