Episode Overview
PC Smith is undercover as a bodyguard for Tony Rourke, a South African drug dealer. Rourke proposes that Smith assist in kidnapping and torturing a high-ranking police officer to uncover the whereabouts of a police informant who poses a threat to him. Under the orders of DCI Tasker from SO10, Smith is instructed to stay embedded and gather more information. He devises a scheme to abduct the officer, who is revealed to be DCI Meadows from Sun Hill. Doubts about Smith’s loyalty arise for Rourke and his associate Jake, leading them to carry out the abduction themselves. As a massive search for Meadows unfolds, Smith persuades informant Ken Stockley to reveal not only Meadows' location but also the identity of Rourke's financier, Lucy Haslock, a City lawyer. Ultimately, SO19 storms the warehouse, rescuing Meadows, who is in poor condition but alive.
