Episode Overview
A young schoolgirl has gone missing, and D.I. Burnside is determined to rescue her. However, her father is hesitant to involve the police, fearing that the kidnappers will harm his daughter if they do. He withdraws £250,000 from his company’s account to pay the ransom. A technical officer from the Yard is brought in to secretly monitor the briefcase. C.I.D. keeps a watchful eye with binoculars, and after a diversion, the father completes the drop. Burnside and his team rush in, only to find the location deserted and the briefcase empty. Miraculously, the girl returns home unharmed. Sensing something is off, Burnside investigates further, leading the technical officer to discover the bugged briefcase and cash hidden in the father's vehicle.
