Episode Overview
Dawn's adventure truly begins now that she has Ash, a seasoned Trainer with 28 badges and a trophy, and Brock, the Pewter Gym Leader, by her side. While attempting to catch a Buneary, Dawn makes a few errors that Ash quickly points out, leading her to accidentally hit him with her Poké Ball. This sparks a familiar argument, with Brock caught in the middle. As they bicker, they notice the sun's intense glare, which turns out to be caused by a Budew belonging to a traveling minstrel named Nando, who has just embarked on his own journey. In a gesture of goodwill, Nando challenges Dawn to a battle. How will she perform in her first fight, and can she find common ground with Ash?
