Zoe attempts to maintain a laid-back relationship with Wade, but her jealousy flares when she spots him with another woman. In retaliation, she arranges a date with Ruby's cousin. Lavon, hesitant at first, allows Lemon to manage his campaign, but he soon finds himself embroiled in a town scandal after covering for her—a decision that could jeopardize his chances in the mayoral election. Meanwhile, with Lemon no longer around, Brick and Magnolia find themselves overwhelmed with chores and come up with a scheme to persuade her to return home.
