Episode Overview

Quatermass intends to utilize Roney's creation, an "optic-encephalogram," to explore the visions. This innovative device captures signals from the brain's optical centers, allowing it to reveal what the subject perceives, whether real or hallucinated. Quatermass dons the apparatus and enters the spacecraft, but it’s Roney's assistant, Barbara Judd, who experiences the strongest effects. When they attach the device to her, they document her vision—a brutal, bloody cleansing of the Martian hive aimed at eliminating undesirable mutations.
