Episode Overview

Ewan and Charley journey toward Kazakhstan, noticing significant changes in both the landscape and the locals. Upon reaching the border, they are greeted by a welcoming committee. However, they soon confront the dreadful roads they had anticipated, with Claudio, the cameraman, being the first to take a spill. Ewan expresses his fears about falling and his anxiety over the poor road conditions. The continual police escorts become another major headache for them; they appreciate the welcome but crave the freedom to travel unencumbered. A light-hearted moment with a herd of massive woolly camels takes a dark turn when Ewan and Charley reveal that a man in a car aimed a gun at them. Later, another police escort leads them to a roadside area filled with officers and news crews, leaving Ewan bewildered and frustrated. A policeman kindly offers his home for a break.
