Before Ewan and Charley cross into Mongolia, they first navigate a brief stretch of Russia. Excited to be back on smooth roads, they make swift progress towards Barnaul, a sizable city that feels quite modern. The breathtaking beauty of the Altai region captivates them as they travel through it. Once they enter Mongolia, they quickly realize that traditional roads are nonexistent; instead, they must rely on paths carved into the ground by passing trucks.
