Episode Overview
A Navy P-3 surveillance aircraft is struck by a Chinese MIG, forcing it to land at a Chinese airbase, marking the second such occurrence, the first having happened in early 2001. In response, the Secretary of the Navy calls on Admiral Boone to return to active duty and accompany Harm to the airbase to negotiate the release of the plane and its crew. After showing the Chinese Commander proof that the MIG and its pilot are unharmed, contrary to Chinese claims of the pilot's death, the crew is promptly released. However, the Chinese insist on dismantling and returning the P-3 in pieces. While escorting the plane back to the USS Thomas Jefferson, Lt. Barrett, after misleading his wingman to break away, defies orders and flies into Chinese airspace, ultimately destroying the P-3 on the ground.
