Pati immerses herself in two significant culinary traditions from Sonora. In Bahía Kino, she witnesses local fishermen receiving a ceremonial blessing from a woman of the Seri tribe before they set out to harvest large sea scallops. Later, in the mountainous town of Matape, Pati meets Nere, one of the rare female butchers in Sonora, who introduces her to a practice known as “the benefit.”
