Mato is consumed by despair over her actions, prompting Black Rock Shooter to transform into her more ferocious form, Insane Black Rock Shooter. In a desperate act, she tears off her own arm to confront Black Gold Saw, causing Mato to faint from the agony, which stops Yuu from reconnecting her spirit to her body. Yuu takes Mato to Saya, who is torn between stopping Black Rock Shooter's rampage in another realm and her reluctance to harm Mato. Instead, Saya connects her mind to Black Gold Saw, seeking to reach out to Mato. She recalls her bond with Yuu, who faced relentless bullying until a tragic house fire led Saya to mistakenly feel guilty about Yuu’s plight. The next day, Yuu asked for protection, awakening Black Gold Saw's powers.
