Mr. Stark finds himself drowning in debt, which drives him to insanity. In a fit of rage, he returns home and tragically kills his wife and daughter. Later, he wanders to Laura's house, where he confuses Laura and Jenny for his family members. However, upon seeing Rose, he mistakenly believes that his daughter has given birth.
