Episode Overview

After the tragic loss of his wife during childbirth, Lou, a small circus performer, arrives in Walnut Grove seeking employment to support his newborn daughter. However, Mrs. Oleson, harboring her biases, uses her influence to ensure Lou struggles to find work, even threatening Mr. Anderson with the closure of her bank account if he hires him. Desperate to feed his child, Lou resorts to stealing food. When Mrs. Oleson learns of his actions, she plans to press charges. However, when Nancy falls into a well, Lou bravely saves her, prompting Mrs. Oleson to reconsider and drop all charges against him.
