S02E20 A Competitive Edge
Episode Overview
Brandon decides to join the track team, which pushes Steve out of the sprint relay. Tensions arise as many teammates resent Brandon for his critical articles about the football squad. Feeling guilty about his writing, Brandon contemplates leaving the paper. Meanwhile, several athletes are using steroids to enhance their performance and pressure Steve to join their "program," leading to erratic mood swings for him. Together with Andrea, Brandon starts an investigation, with help from Kelly's friend Kyle. The track coach halts practices until those using steroids come forward. The other athletes wrongly suspect Steve as the informant and threaten him if he doesn’t take the blame. Meanwhile, Brenda borrows Brandon's car and ends up in an accident. The other driver claims whiplash and files a lawsuit, but Brenda uncovers her deceit when she catches her dancing in her living room. Music: "Dancing in the Street" by The Mamas and the Papas (?).
