Valerie decides to file rape charges against Noah, but Kelly and Steve, recalling Val's previous fake pregnancy and abortion, suspect she’s lying to extort money. Donna, who initially thinks Noah is innocent, distances herself after discovering he had an affair with Valerie. The district attorney refuses to press charges due to a lack of evidence, prompting Val to file a $10 million civil lawsuit for vindication. Meanwhile, Josh proposes a $200,000 settlement without Noah's knowledge, leading Noah to angrily reject it. Donna struggles with her schoolwork due to back pain and the side effects of painkillers, turning to Josh for amphetamines and eventually stealing drugs from her father’s clinic. Brandon and Steve accompany Tammy and her partner on a ride-along, where Brandon believes excessive force was used on a suspect but chooses not to report it.
