Matt's peaceful life at Hartley High is disrupted when his past resurfaces. His father, Paul, a driven and competitive man, insists that Matt return home for a more stable life. Paul believes that Deloraine has allowed Matt too much freedom, a notion reinforced by Matt's disappointing academic performance. Tensions rise when Matt, frustrated by his father's controlling nature, unexpectedly lashes out on the basketball court, striking teacher Andrew. Meanwhile, everyone is searching for Steve. Con needs pictures for the school magazine, Allie is looking for a new flatmate, and Danielle wants to see a movie with him. Steve’s sudden disappearance leaves everyone confused and upset.
