Amy is determined to have Lauren recognized as a "gifted" student. Meanwhile, Maxine commits to attending an anger management course after harshly insulting a colleague and confronting the boy responsible for vandalizing the Gray home. Amy starts dating a detective whom she feels is "out of her league." Vincent decides to support Donna as her birthing partner. Additionally, Amy finds herself presiding over the sentencing hearing for a teenager who deliberately injured a rival player during a hockey match.
