When Maxine returns home from the hospital, Amy becomes overly controlling, insisting her mother stick to a healthier diet and join a senior walking group. After Maxine expresses doubts about living with Amy, they come to the conclusion that it might be better for Amy to find her own place. Meanwhile, Amy is anxious that Bruce is considering a guilty plea for his assault charge. Kyle faces the difficult task of informing a runaway that she is terminally ill. Additionally, Amy learns about a high school student who is secretly stashing her baby in a storage room during lessons.
