Episode Overview

Amy and Lauren continue to feel the strain of their cramped living situation. While trying to cope, they unexpectedly bump into Jared and his new date at the diner, leaving Amy feeling particularly down. Maxine, feeling frustrated, gives Jared the cold treatment, but he remains persistent in his affections and eventually convinces her to accept an engagement ring. Meanwhile, Michael files for full custody of Lauren. Just as Amy is about to ask her mother about moving back home, she finds out that Maxine has put her house on the market. Bruce enters a no-contest plea for his assault charge, receiving a suspended sentence. Amy is assigned to a troubling case involving a mother who locked her kids in her car trunk due to childcare issues. Maxine returns from her medical leave after being asked by her dentist to look into potential abuse involving a teenage patient. In a turn of events, Bruce is let go, and the dreaded Ian Jankowski is promoted to Chief Strategy Officer, taking over Amy's courtroom
