Kyle ignores Maxine's warning and bends the rules for a new mother desperate to hold her baby one last time before returning to prison. Meanwhile, the tension between Amy and David escalates as they keep running into each other at the courthouse, leading Amy to reconsider their breakup and choose reconciliation instead. Matthew asks Gillian out, but she hesitantly declines until a heart-to-heart with Donna helps her clarify her feelings. Maxine invites Ignatio to dinner, only to be caught off guard when he arrives with a disapproving Isabel. Additionally, Kyle feels uneasy when Todd extends a friendly gesture, while Amy comes up with an innovative plan to help a struggling young mother retain custody of her children amidst the absurdities of the "Welfare to Work" program.
