Grace Under Fire (1993)

Episode Overview

At the pharmacy, a conflict arises between Russell and D.C. when D.C. tries on a watch that unexpectedly breaks before he can purchase it. Meanwhile, Grace encounters Bev, the mother of Quentin's girlfriend, who confides her feelings of entrapment in her wealthy marriage. Struggling to empathize with Bev's issues, Grace returns home, where Libby's trumpet practice drives her to distraction. Bev later visits Grace, expressing her desire to reconnect with her middle-class roots by staying with them. Although Grace agrees, Quentin is less thrilled about sharing space with his girlfriend's mother. As Bev struggles to adjust, her habits—like taking multiple long showers and using excessive towels—cause tension in the household. Grace believes an honest conversation with Bev's husband could help, but Bev disagrees, leading Grace to take her out to a bar to experience the more challenging aspects of life.
