While researching her new novel at a zoo, Jessica becomes embroiled in a murder investigation when the body of Mark Atwater, the fiancé of a zoo staff member, is discovered, having been killed by snake venom. As suspicion falls on another employee who is accused of the crime, Jessica delves deeper and uncovers several individuals who might have had reasons to wish Mark harm.
