Episode Overview
Donna, a girl Richie once dated, shows up with her 18-month-old son, claiming he is Richie's child. Despite MacLeod's insistence that it's impossible for Immortals to have children, Richie sees this as a chance to create the family he always wanted. Meanwhile, when the malevolent Immortal Kern arrives in town, MacLeod is reminded of his tragic past involving his foster son, Kahani, who was killed over a century ago by Kern and his mercenary group. As Donna discovers Richie's sword and questions its purpose, Richie struggles to explain. MacLeod advises him that leaving Donna and the child would be the better choice. But when Kern threatens them, Richie comes to terms with MacLeod's wisdom and must ultimately let go of the family he yearns for, while MacLeod confronts Kern.
