Charles Buckman is determined to dominate both professional and amateur sports, which could tarnish the U.S.'s reputation in the global athletic arena. Teaming up with Syndicate operative Dan Whelan, Buckman poses a significant threat that the IMF must neutralize. To infiltrate their plans, Barney undergoes an intense boxing crash course and impersonates Richy Lamoine, announcing a comeback that forces Rollin, the manager, to sign with Buckman. Meanwhile, Jim secures a position with Whelan, but as he sneaks through a tunnel to reach Whelan's office, he unexpectedly encounters Whelan and his associates coming down the passage.
