Crucial data about U.S. missile control centers has been compromised and handed over to Valentin Yetkoff, a military attaché working for a hostile nation. The IMF's mission is to prevent Yetkoff from validating the stolen information and to convince him it’s inaccurate. They target Yetkoff's right-hand man, Toland, enlisting a presidential aide and his wife, Susan, to seduce him. Susan reveals that they possess classified documents about the missile centers, leading Toland to overdose her and take photographs of the papers. However, the IMF manages to revive her in time. Phelps disguises himself as one of Yetkoff's subordinates and presents evidence confirming the stolen data. Yet, when Yetkoff uncovers Jim's deception, he doubts the information's validity. Toland then offers his own proof, leading Yetkoff to mistakenly identify him as a U.S. agent, resulting in Toland's demise and Yetkoff reporting the stolen intel as
