Mulberry takes it upon himself to conduct a safety inspection of the manor. Unfortunately for Bert and Alice, he concludes that the place is a death trap. This revelation weighs heavily on him, leading to personal struggles. His father returns, and in a moment of exasperation, Mulberry resolves that the best way to safeguard Miss Farnaby is to leave the manor just as abruptly as he arrived. This decision sparks a conflict between him and his father over who truly holds authority and who will be responsible for looking after Miss Farnaby.
