Episode Overview
Molly Avey is busy organizing a surprise party for her husband Jordan's 40th birthday when she receives a call from her doctor's office suspecting she might have cancer, a disease that claimed her mother and grandmother at a similar age. Meanwhile, Andrew, the Avey's farmhand, thinks Molly is his responsibility, but Tess warns him that unexpected twists may arise. Molly decides not to share the news with Jordan, wanting to keep the surprise intact. However, when the party starts, Jordan appears more somber than celebratory. He finds solace in chatting with his old friend Donna, reminiscing about their youthful romance. The festivities are interrupted when their young son Jimmy announces that one of the cows is in labor. Together, Jordan, Andrew, and Jimmy work to assist with the delivery, but the calf arrives prematurely. Jimmy names the calf Hannibal, eager to raise it, but Jordan reminds him that some things are better left unfulfilled.
