Episode Overview
In New York City, Tess and Monica delight in the performances of street musicians, but when Monica attempts to join in, Tess gently points out that singing isn’t her strong suit. Monica recalls her lifelong prayer for a lovely singing voice, and when she hears a beautiful melody resonating from Carnegie Hall, she believes her wish is finally being granted. To her dismay, she discovers the voice belongs to a rude English orphan named Alice, who is in town for a choir competition, which happens to be Monica's assignment. Tess informs Monica that her task is to give Alice a "singing lesson." Although hesitant, Monica agrees to be Alice's chaperone for the day, and they set off to explore the city. Alice, reminiscing about a song her father taught her, expresses a desire to visit Herald Square, and Monica, hoping to be friendly, takes her there.
