Episode Overview

In the close-knit town of Wells, Nevada, news spreads quickly, often fueled by gossip. Danni Blake has faced the burden of this chatter throughout her life, particularly the stigma of growing up without a father. When her school announces a father-daughter event, hurtful remarks from her peers push Danni into a fit of anger, prompting her to rush home. Her mother, Nicole, tries to console her but realizes that Danni's only solace lies in learning about her father. Reluctantly, Nicole hands over a card from Danni's father sent on her first birthday, lifting Danni's spirits. After Nicole leaves for work, Danni is watched over by Monica. Later that night, she awakens to find a crowd in her room; her mother has been injured in a factory accident. The following day, after visiting her unconscious mother in the hospital, Danni decides to seek out her father, using the address from the card as she boards a bus to Silver Springs.
