Episode Overview

Monica and Gloria arrive in Carlisle, Arizona, on a quest for coffee and the last words of a death row inmate. Posing as an author, Monica enters the Oasis diner, where she encounters Shirlee, a friendly waitress with a peculiar interest in the families visiting their loved ones facing execution. Meanwhile, convicted murderer Daniel Lee Corbitt is attempting to project confidence as his execution approaches. He boasts about the notoriety he believes his death will bring and the "writer" scheduled to visit him. What he doesn’t anticipate is the presence of Andrew, his personal Angel of Death, who will accompany him through his final 36 hours. When Monica and Gloria reach the prison, Daniel eagerly dismisses Andrew, focusing instead on crafting his legacy through a revealing biography, as he recounts the events that led him back to his hometown.
