New Tricks (2004)
S04E05 Powerhouse
Episode Overview
The team takes another look at the 1950s murder of Frederick Tully, a young wages clerk at Battersea Power Station. Richard Dunne, who was executed for Tully's death, has his granddaughter, Hannah, advocating for his posthumous pardon. While investigating, they uncover a suitcase filled with used fivers in the attic of Tully's home, leading to new insights about a possible blackmail scheme. Tracing the money reveals that the notes should have been incinerated at the power station but were instead kept by Douglas Murray, a friend of Tully's. They also learn that the furnaces were used for destroying sensitive documents, including one tied to a British Army massacre in Kenya, unveiling a blackmail operation that spans over five decades.
