Elena suffers a shoulder injury, but the most serious casualty from the shooting is a girl no one recognizes. Ben stays by Avery's side in the ambulance, encouraging her to hold on. She briefly flatlines, but the paramedics manage to bring her back. Once she recovers, Avery showers Ben with lavish gifts and openly expresses her feelings for him, much to Felicity's annoyance. Meanwhile, Noel spirals into sadness after the incident, though his mood lifts slightly after a night with Avery. In her quest for self-confidence, Elena enrolls in a self-defense class, startling Felicity with her newfound fierceness. Initially hesitant, Felicity decides to join when she finds out Avery will be there, relishing the moment she gets to flip Avery and throw her down. Tracy makes an unexpected return from Africa, and Elena discovers he’s now involved with someone he met while abroad.
