Episode Overview
In Stamford, Lincolnshire, the first episode of Come Dine with Me features retired aerobics instructor Sue Quinn as the host. Guests include the pretentious pub owner Michael Birt, florist Sophie Cullumbine, and gourmet enthusiast Adam Baxter. Sue's opening night is filled with laughter, and she instantly bonds with Sophie, much to Adam's amusement as he notes they seem like two sides of the same coin, leaving the guys struggling to join the conversation. On Michael's night, he tries to elevate the evening with fancy food and conversations, but Sophie’s wild antics rival his efforts, even causing Sue to shake her head. When it's Sophie's turn, she realizes she must tone it down to be an ideal hostess. Though the boys start to warm up to her, Sophie's adventurous squirrel dish ultimately leads to a culinary disaster.
