Episode Overview

Megan Brooks returns home for her mother's funeral, greeted by a Dixieland band playing "When the Saints Go Marching In," much to her grandmother Clarice Mitchell's dismay. Clarice, a famous poet, is shocked to learn that her grandson Sam, who used to date Megan in high school, wants to propose to her. After discovering that Megan is HIV positive, Clarice insists that Sam should take back his proposal. Initially upset, Sam drives off but soon realizes his mistake and comes back, committed to supporting Megan. However, Megan feels uncertain about the marriage, leaving Sam confused. Tess, who has been a source of inspiration for Clarice, encourages the poet to support their union, believing it’s time for Sam and Megan to embrace love. The wedding preparations then continue.
