Episode Overview

In a quaint New York town, a solitary Volkswagen Beetle sits neglected in the train station parking lot, untouched for months. Its owner, Bill Harper, last boarded the 6:15 train to New York City on September 11th, and since then, no one knows what happened to him. The mystery deepens the heartache for his friends and neighbors, who find it hard to accept that Bill Harper won’t be home for Christmas. He won’t be there to organize the Christmas Pageant or teach drum lessons to young Benny Lewis. Yet, Benny clings to hope, checking daily for any sign of movement from the car. Meanwhile, his mother, Victoria, the mayor, is overwhelmed with fear and refuses to allow the sheriff, Charlie, to tow the Beetle, reluctant to let go of the last trace of Bill.
