Episode Overview

Monica returns to visit Elizabeth Jessup, a former reporter she once assisted through her struggle with alcoholism. Tess believes Monica is there as the answer to a prayer. Eager to help, Monica rushes up to Elizabeth’s door, only to find that her assistance is not only unwanted but met with resentment. Elizabeth rejects the angel who once aided her. Monica later attends an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting where Elizabeth proudly marks seven years of sobriety. However, during her speech, she begins to slur her words, claiming it’s just a headache and not a relapse. Afterward, Monica speaks with Elizabeth, her daughter Sydney, and granddaughter Beth, expressing her concern. Elizabeth reveals she has been experiencing transient cognitive episodes, while Sydney mentions doctors suspect a brain tumor. Later, Monica reads Elizabeth's memoir and questions why the fire isn't mentioned.
