Episode Overview

Ben McCloud, a talented pitcher for the AAA Richmond Braves, is on the brink of reaching the Major Leagues, but his biggest hurdle is his father, Norm. Norm is relentless in criticizing Ben's performance, even after a two-hit shutout, and demands nothing less than perfection. His desire for Ben to succeed where he failed is ironically leading his son down the same path that ended his own career. Norm's constant humiliation of Ben in front of teammates is pushing him to his limits. When Monica joins the team as the new trainer, she offers Ben a chance to express his frustrations. Norm remains oblivious to Ben's struggles and would disapprove of any connection with his father, Candy, a once-great ballplayer, whom he dismisses as a fraud. Norm's obsession with success blinds him to the damage he’s causing.
