Episode Overview

Henry Manners, a powerful news magnate, is found dead in an express elevator on his way to the 12th floor, with no one else inside. The list of suspects is extensive, including Manners' sister, who once managed the paper during his absence in World War II, a controversial right-wing columnist known for landing the paper in legal troubles, the Editor facing forced retirement, and, of course, the paper's lawyer. Ole Frank Flannigan is also present, causing his usual disruption while trying to outsmart Ellery. They’ll need to tackle this case methodically, one day at a time.
