When VH1's "Behind the Music" plans a feature on Chris, the record label assigns Dana, a publicity expert, to the task. Aware that the show thrives on tales of hardship and flawed icons, Dana is eager to uncover any scandal surrounding Chris. However, she finds little to expose. In the meantime, Chris reconnects with Maria, a photographer who left him nine years ago, and discovers he may have an eight-year-old daughter named Chloe. They bond over shared interests, leading Chris to suspect he is her father. Meanwhile, Dana becomes entangled with Anson, whose messy demeanor oddly attracts her. Yola struggles with guilt after her complaints lead to Gwen, a deaf-blind masseuse, losing her job.
