Findlay Crawford, a renowned composer and conductor in Hollywood, has been guiding a gifted young musician who has secretly created much of his recent work, including the Oscar-winning score for Crawford's latest film. As the protégé seeks to establish his own identity in the industry, Crawford, struggling to find his own creative spark, devises a cunning plan to eliminate his former mentee, staging it to appear as a tragic suicide.
