Episode Overview
Tom Jennings, the son of Dorothy, makes an unexpected appearance at Loren's store while Mike and the kids are shopping. A Civil War veteran, he bears an old injury from the war that nearly cost him his leg. When he mentions pain in his leg, Dorothy asks Mike to help him out and gives him a syringe of morphine, unaware of the pleasure it brings him. Mike later invites Tom, Dorothy, and Loren for dinner, where Colleen finds herself smitten with him. Sully grows suspicious when he notices Tom leaving without his cane. The following day, Tom visits Mike again, claiming his leg is hurting. Although she treats him, she refuses to give him her last morphine vial, which she’s reserving for emergencies. Later, Loren spots Tom concealing a vial of patent medicine from the store. When Dorothy confronts him, he justifies his actions by saying the pain overwhelmed him and complains about Mike withholding morphine. That night, Tom heads to the saloon
