Episode Overview

Robert E purchases a home in town, but when auctioneer Jedediah Bancroft realizes he sold the property to a black man, he attempts to backtrack on the sale. Mike steps in to defend Robert E. Later, Mike discovers that Jake, Loren, Hank, and Dorothy are unhappy about Robert E and Grace's presence in the community. That evening, Matthew informs Mike that he’s been invited to join a men’s group— the Ku Klux Klan—of which he knows little but plans to check out. At the meeting, Jedediah, the leader, hints at a “big surprise” for the following night. The next evening, masked townspeople ride out in white robes to intimidate and assault Robert E.
